LYME RECEIVES FEDERAL HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM DUI GRANT

DUI enforcement activity in Lyme has been stepped up recently as the result of a Federal Highway Safety Program grant just awarded to the town following submission of an application prepared by authorities at Troop F of the Connecticut State Police in Westbrook.

The grant covers approximately two-thirds of the total program cost and the next roving DUI enforcement  patrol is scheduled for Friday, August 24th, with subsequent patrols to be scheduled during the month of September.

LYME VETERANS MEMORIAL FUND RAISER

The Lyme Veterans Committee will be hosting its annual Ham and Bean Dinner fund raiser for the LYME VETERANS MEMORIAL  Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Lymes’ Senior Center on Town Woods Road.

Tickets are $10.00 each and will be available at Jane’s Store in Hamburg Village, the Senior Center or at the door on the day of the event.

There will be baked ham, beans, cole slaw, rolls and desert. Take out orders will also be available.

A good meal for a worthy cause. Please support our Veterans Committee and its on going Memorial projects.

111TH HAMBURG FAIR IN LYME THIS WEEKEND

The Lyme Grange Fair Association kicks off its 111th edition this Friday afternoon at 5 PM at the grange fairgrounds on Route 156 (Hamburg Road) in Lyme.

Fair hours: Friday, August 17th, 5PM-11PM; Saturday, August 18th, 9AM-11PM; Sunday, August 19th, 9AM-6PM

General Admission: $5.00, Kids up to 12 years of age FREE, Senior Citizens $3.00, Active Duty Servicemen and women $3.00 (ID required)

Entries and Exhibits will be accepted at the Grange Hall at these times only: Thursday evening between 7 and 9PM & Friday afternoon between 1 and 4:30PM

Judging will take place in the hall between 5 & 8PM.

There will be rides, bands, pony, horse and oxen pulls and nutritious fair cuisine all three days. Also featured will be  Western re-enactment blacksmith demonstrations, antique tractors, alpacas and small farm animals.

 

LYME BURGLARIES UPDATE

Town officials have learned that evidence has recently been seized which is connected to the recent rash of burglaries in Lyme. Troops covering several other towns are actively involved in the continuing investigation as well.

To assist with the Lyme related investigation, the town will be utilizing some of its annual budget allocation for police services to facilitate and expedite the process.
