Lyme has upgraded the mattress recycling program at its Brush Hill Road landfill. Residents wishing to dispose of old mattresses and box springs may now do so free of charge if the items are clean and in good condition. A covered roll off container has been provided through the state’s mattress recycling program making it possible to waive disposal charges.

There will still be a $15.00 disposal charge levied for box springs and mattresses which do not meet the recycling standard. The fee will also apply to couches and other related items.

The landfill is open Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the afternoon. It is closed on holidays.
