CTDOT Announces Proposed Rail Service Cuts, Fare Increases

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has recently announced a proposal that would eliminate off-peak and weekend service on Shore Line East, and make “significant” cuts to peak-period service on Shore Line East, effective on or about July 1, 2018. In addition, CTDOT has proposed “significant” service cuts to off-peak and weekend rail services on the New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury branch rail lines. CTDOT also announced it was considering a cumulative 21.28% increase in rail fares (which would take effect in three phases if approved – 10% on July 1, 2018, 5% on July 1, 2020, and 5% on July 1, 2021.)  CTDOT announced that residents can comment on the proposed changes by sending a letter to “Comment on Proposed Fare and Service Changes,” CTDOT, P.O. CTDOT Announces Proposed Ferry Fare Increase

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has recently announced a proposal that would increase the car fare on the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry by $1.00, effective July 1, 2018; and increase the price of a 20-ticket coupon book from $60 to $80, effective the same date. CTDOT has also announced that residents can comment on the proposed changes by sending a letter to “Comment on Proposed Fare and Service Changes,” CTDOT, P.O. Box 317546, Newington, CT 06131; by sending an email to dot.farecomments@ct.gov; or by attending a town hall meeting, one of which will be held in Chester on February 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Click here for details.

Lyme Receives $870K Grant for Open Space Purchase

Through the Open Space & Watershed Land Acquisition program, the Governor is giving Lyme a grant of $870,000 to support the purchase of the 250-acre Johnson Preserve, which will be permanently protected as open space.  Read more about the grant here.

Lyme Town Hall and Lyme Transfer Station Closed Monday, February 12 & Monday, February 19 in Observance of Lincoln & Washington Birthdays
