TOWN OF LYME ANNUAL BUDGET MEETING

THURSDAY, MAY 17, 2018, 7:30 P.M., LYME TOWN HALL

480 HAMBURG ROAD, LYME, CT

Electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meeting are hereby warned and notified that the ANNUAL BUDGET MEETING will be held at the Lyme Town Hall, 480 Hamburg Road, Lyme, Connecticut, Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 7:30 p.m., EDT for presentation of the following agenda:

  1. Acknowledge receipt of the Town of Lyme Annual report for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2017.
  2. Acceptance of the Emerson Cemetery property from the Jewett family to the Town of Lyme.
  3. Consider and approve the Town joining an approved Connecticut Health Department or approved Connecticut Health District.
  4. Consider and repeal of the 1968 ordinance relating to Public Health in the Town of Lyme.
  5. Consider and act on estimates and recommendations of the Board of Finance for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2019.

Board of Selectmen Fills Vacancy on Rogers Lake Authority

Pursuant to Section 7-151A of the Connecticut General Statutes, the undersigned Board of Selectmen here appoints MARK HASTINGS to the ROGERS LAKE AUTHORITY to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Tom Mondelci.

Said term shall run through the end of the expired term, which is June 1, 2018.

Voting Information: May 14 Deadline for Primaries

Friday, May 4th, 2018

Monday, May 14, 2018, is the last day that a registered voter can transfer from one party to another in order to be able to vote in the August political primaries.  Any registered voter who wishes to do so should see the Town Clerk at Lyme Town Hall during regular business hours before the May 14 deadline passes.

Food Safety Seminar for Nonprofits

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018

On Monday, May 7, at 7 p.m., at the Lyme Public Hall, the Lyme Fire Marshal’s Office and the Ledgelight Health District will be offering a free informational seminar on food safety designed for nonprofit organizations that conduct special events involving the selling or offering of food to the public.  Topics covered at the seminar will include the safety requirements that apply to the use of kitchens; the preparation and serving of food; food handling and storage activities; and proper sanitation. The presentation will also focus on the use of transportable LP gas devices, food trucks and solid-fuel cooking.  To register for the free seminar, please contact Fire Marshal Dave Roberge at 860-662-1339 or dwr@snet.net.   Last minute walk-ins will also be welcomed.

Vote on 2018-2019 School Budget Scheduled for May 8

On Tuesday, May 8, registered voters in the towns of Lyme and Old Lyme will vote on the proposed 2018-2019 budget for Regional School District 18.

Voting will take place at the Lyme Town Hall (for voters in Lyme) at 480 Hamburg Road. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

PUBLIC HEARING

The Lyme Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, May 14, 2018, at 7:30 p.m., at the Lyme Town Hall, 480 Hamburg Road, Lyme, CT, to hear and act on the following:

  1. Poly Richter, 236 Beaver Brooke Road, Tax Map 45, Lot 8: an application for a special permit for construction of a boat dock on Cedar Lake within the Eightmile Watershed Overlay District.
  2. The Town of Lyme: a public hearing to discuss opting out of the Temporary Healthcare Structures legislation, PA 17-155.

PUBLIC HEARING

The Lyme Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a Public Hearing, May 14, 2018, at 7:30 p.m., at Lyme Town Hall, 480 Hamburg Road, Lyme, CT, to hear and act on the following:

A Special Permit by Michael Lech, for the construction of a dwelling that is substantially in excess of the 4000 square foot limit within the Gateway Zone, therefore, requiring a special permit review. 111 Cove Road, Tax Map 17 Lot 3.

Any correspondence concerning the above may be sent to the Lyme Planning and Zoning Commission, Lyme Town Hall, 480 Hamburg Road, Lyme, CT 06371 or any person may attend said meeting to voice their opinion. Copies of the above are on file at the office of the Lyme Town Clerk.

Spring Turkey Hunting Season is from April 25 – May 26, 2018

Spring Turkey Hunting Season is from April 25 to May 26, 2018. Hunting is allowed – with a permit obtained from the Town of Lyme Open Space Coordinator – Mondays through Thursdays, one hour before sunrise to noon, on Beebe Preserve, Chestnut Hill Preserve, Eno Preserve, Hand Smith, Honey Hill Preserve, Jewett Preserve, Mount Archer Woods, Pickwick’s Preserve and Plimpton Preserve.  These preserves, owned by the Town of Lyme or the Lyme Land Conservation Trust, remain open to hikers and other users during this time.  For more information on the hunting program in Lyme, please go here.
