Summer Programs and Activities
Lyme Park and Recreation is pleased to offer the following summer programs and activities into the summer schedule for the citizens of Lyme. We are also very excited to bring a few new activities into the summer schedule. Some will be offered to Old Lyme residents as well. Please fill out the appropriate form(s) and return them as soon as possible to the Lyme Town Hall at 480 Hamburg Rd. Lyme, CT. 06371 attention to Park and Rec. or Jason Thornton. 4TH OF JULY TOWN PARADE, PICNIC, AND CONCERT
Date: Monday, July 4th
Location: Begins at Camp Claire on Cove Rd.
Ends at The Grange for food, music, and games.
The Cove Road 4th of July parade has been a Lyme tradition for years. Participants in the parade should gather between 9:00 and 10:00am at Camp Claire. The Parade will convene at 10:00 or when everyone is ready. Lyme Parks and Recreation will be providing food and fun activities at the Grange following the parade. Look for additional advertised information as the 4th draws near. No registration required. Two for the Show will be performing following the parade.
UK INTERNATIONAL SOCCER CAMP
Date: June 27 – July 1 Location – Townwoods
Ages 6-16 $104/Monday – Friday, 9:00AM-12:00 noon
Ages 4-6 $73/Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-10:30AM
or 10:30AM-12:00 noon
Advanced training for the 11-18 year old player. Innovative curriculum and assessment. Participants will receive a soccer ball, T-shirt, and evaluation. Please bring a water bottle and shin guards each day. Brochures and registration forms for this activity are available in the Lyme Town Hall. Would you like a coach to stay with your family? If you are interested in housing a coach, please check the appropriate box on the MLS registration form. Open to Lyme and Old Lyme residents. CHILDREN’S ARTS AND CRAFTS
Date: July 11 – 15 Monday – Friday
Location: Lyme Consolidated School Cafeteria
Fee: None
Join Sue Fiscus to create arts and crafts projects working with a variety of mediums, such as clay, paints, chalk, beads and tissue paper. Open to all children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade. Kindergarten through 2nd grade will meet from 8:45AM – 10:45 AM. Grades 3 through 5 will meet from 11:00 – 2:00. Please send a nutritious snack and juice box with your child each day and BRING A SMOCK! Be prompt when picking up your children as our instructors have other commitments. Limit of 12 participants per session. Open to Lyme residents only. To register, please complete registration form and return to Sue Fiscus at 4 Squire Hill RD. Old Lyme.

SWIMMING LESSONS
Date: July 18 – 22 & July 25 – 29 between 10:00 and 1:00, half hour time slots depending on level placement.
Placement will be on Monday, July 18 between 10:00 and 11:30
Location: Eno Residence, 75 Tantorantum Road, Lyme
Fee: none
Open to all children entering kindergarten and up. All swimmers should attend on Monday, July 18th sometime between 10:00 and 11:30 for level placement and class assignment. Since this activity is held at a private home, parents/guardians must remain on site to supervise their children. Open to Lyme residents only. Art Club
Each week we will meet for 2 hours at a different location to draw or paint some local treasures like Guillette’s castle, Devils Hopyard, and local farms. The times and locations will be determined weekly, to provide a flexible schedule throughout the summer. Sign up per week at $15 per session. There will be a minimum of 4 students to run it each week. It will be open to students age 10 to 14 who are serious about art. MAD SCIENCE CAMPS
Located at the Lyme Consolidated School Cafeteria

July 18 – 22, from 9:00am to noon
Ooey Gooey Slime, and glow in the dark concoctions await you in the world of Crazy Chemistry. Make secret messages, and explore all the states of matter. You become the Mad Scientist in this incredible week of hands on activities.
$125 – N.A.S.A Academy of Future Space Explorers Ages 5-12
August 1 – 5, from 9:00am to noon
This stellar program is your ticket to the stars! Watch star dust burn, and journey through a soapy galaxy as you investigate the life cycleof stars! Use your bead dipper to create a 3 -dimensional glow-in the dark constellation. Investigate the four forces of flight, and explore the science involved in rocket construction as you build your own Rocket to take home.

2009 Summer Sailing Lessons At Hamburg Cove Yacht Club
The Hamburg Cove Yacht Club and the Lyme Park and Recreation Department are offering a Junior Sailing Program at The Hamburg Cove Yacht Club on Cove Road in Lyme this summer. The program is open to students between the ages of 9 and 15 and is focused on the beginner to intermediate level. Four, one-week sessions will be offered July 18 -22nd (Wk1), July25-29th(Wk2,. Week 3(Aug 1-5th) & Week 4 (Aug. 8-12th) . All classes are from 9 AM to 3 PM. Inquire about scholarship opportunities. Certified instructors will teach the program. In the interests of safety, we do require that the students are able to demonstrate rudimentary swimming ability. Registration will be open from April 15th to June 15th 2009.
