Town of Lyme
Conditions as of Wernesday, October 31, 2012 8:00 am

For information: As of this writing, there are no communications to the Emergency Operations Center located at the Hamburg Fire Station. For information, please come to the information table located at the Hamburg Fire Station at 213 Hamburg Road. As soon as communications are restored, we will update the wen site.

Road Conditions: With the exception of Mitchell Hill Road, all town roads are open to traffic end to end. Mitchell Hill is the first priority Wednesday morning once we have a tree and electric crew on site.

Power Status: We are currently in the Clear and Make Safe phase of the process of restoring power to the town. Exact power restoration estimates are not yet available. We are being told to expect a restoration time frame similar to what we experienced following Tropical Stoem Irene in August of last year. Please be sure to report any downed lines by calling 911 and any outages by calling CL&P at 1-800-286-2000 if you are able to do so. Even if you have not seen them, CL&P crews have been a constant presence in Lyme since it was safe to work following the hurricane. We have also had a CL&P liason officer at the Emergency Operations Center since noon on Monday. Please assume all downed wires are energized and stay clear!

Lyme-Old Lyme Public Schools are closed today.

Lyme Town Hall and Lyme Landfill: As of this writing, the Lyme Town Hall will remain closed today. Residents may register to vote or obtain an absentee ballot by coming to the Hamburg Fire Station between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. In person voter registration has been extended to Thursday, November 1. Please check at the information table at the Hamburg Fire Station prior to traveling to the landfill. The hours of operation are to be determined. As a reminder, the normal length and diameter restrictions for trees and brush will apply (length eight feet, diameter six inches).

Lyme’s Senior Center on Town Woods Road is available daily from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm as a respite center. Water (bring your own containers), bottled water, toilets, recharging electronic devices, WiFi, and meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are available. No shower facilities.

Hadlyme and Hamburg Fire Stations are open 6:00 am to 8:00 pm for water (bring your own containers), showers (bring own towels/toiletries), bottled water, and toilets. Residents may recharge electronic devices as well. No meals.

Ice: Ice is available in the parking area between the Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School and Center School.

Trash Pickup: Tuesday trash pickups, as well as normal Thursday pickups, will be done on Thursday, November 1. For an emergency pickup, please contact Jansky’s Rubbish Removal at 860.304.3537.
