Town of Lyme – Conditions as of Friday, November 2, 2012 8:00 AM
For Information: For up to date information, please come to the information table located at the Hamburg Fire Station at 213 Hamburg Road or to the Lyme Town Hall at 480 Hamburg Road. The Town of Lyme website, www.townlyme.org, is now being updated daily.
Power Status: A modest amount of restoration was completed on Thursday, and we are now fully in the restoration phase of the process of restoring electricity to Lyme residences. We have observed five line crews in town this morning, which will mean a much more aggressive effort toward full restoration. Please be sure to report any downed lines by calling 911 and any outages by calling CL&P at 1-800-286-2000 if you are able to do so. Please assume all downed wires are energized and stay clear!
AT&T Status: The intermittent phone service which occurred since the onset of the storm was due primarily to the failure of AT&T to once again adequately prepare for a storm event. The source of the problem has been identified and work to correct same is underway. Local officials statewide continue to express discontent with AT&T’s apparent lack of concern for emergency communications service. During the upcoming legislative session, you can anticipate a concerted effort on the part of municipal lobbying organizations such as the Council of Small Towns and the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities to force AT&T to provide reliable service during emergency weather events.
