As most of you know, for the past couple of years unplanned closures of the CT River ferries have been posted as a Traffic Incident on the CT DOT web page. The postings have been made by the DOT Highway Operation Center upon receiving an email or telephone call from the Captain of the Watch on the respective ferry to provide the closure information. Posting the closures on the CT DOT web site was a result of feedback from our ridership expressing the need to determine if the ferry is operating or not before making the drive to the ferry landing.
As of this morning, CT DOT is offering an automated ferry operation alert service for those interested in signing up.
