There are numerous events scheduled in Lyme throughout this month which will not only provide residents and non-residents alike with opportunities to experience first hand a sampling of life in a small New England town, but also benefit the local sponsoring organizations putting them on.

First, is the annual Rummage Sale at the Lyme Congregational Church. It will be held Saturday, May 10th from 9 A.M. until 1 P.M. at the church which is located at the intersection of Route 156 and the northern entrance to Sterling City Road.

Next, is the Lyme Public Library’s Annual Book Sale which will be held Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th at the Lyme Public Hall on Route 156. The Friday schedule will run from 4-7 P.M. and the Saturday schedule runs from 10 A.M.-4 P.M..

Sunday, May 18th marks the Lyme Land Conservation Trust’s second annual Tour de Lyme. Some 350-400 bicyclists will begin at Ashlawn Farm which is hosting this year’s event at intervals starting at 8:30 A.M. and proceed through town on several different routes with varying degrees of difficulty. Please remember that the participants are our guests participating in a major fund raising event for one of Lyme’s most prominent non-profit organizations. Hopefully, there will be little or no inconvenience for Lyme residents.

The Board of Selectmen invites one and all to patronize or participate in these events which benefit vital organizations which contribute so much to Lyme’s special quality of life.
