IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE NOVEMBER 4, 2014 ELECTION

 

OBTAINING ABSENTEE BALLOTS

 

Absentee ballots are available from the Town Clerk beginning Friday, October 3.  Requests for absentee ballots may be made in person at the Town Clerk’s office or you may download an application from the Connecticut Secretary of the State’s website at www.ct.gov/sots.  Absentee ballots may be obtained up to and including Monday, November 3.

 

RETURNING ABSENTEE BALLOTS

 

The absentee ballot must be received by the town clerk the day before the election if it is returned in person by the applicant.

 

The absentee ballot must be received by the Town Clerk by the close of the polls if it is mailed or if it is returned by a member of the immediate family of the applicant in person or by the qualified designee of an ill or physically disabled ballot applicant in person.

 

VOTER REGISTRATION

 

Saturday Registration Session:  Registrars will be in their office on Saturday, October 18th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 pm to accept voter registrations (Lyme Town Hall, 480 Hamburg Road).

 

Mail-in Voter Registration Deadline:  Must be postmarked by October 21st.

 

In-person Regular Voter Registration Deadline:  The last day for in-person regular voter registration is October 28th.  Applicants must appear in person at the Town Hall located at 480 Hamburg Road.  The Town Clerk’s office is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The Registrar’s Office will be open October 28th from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.

 

Limited Registration Session: Session of Registrars of Voters to admit those seeking to vote in the election whose qualification as to age, citizenship, or residence was attained since October 28th.  Registrars’ Office will be open Monday, November 3 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

Voter Registration Receipt:  On election day, an applicant whose name is not on the check-list may vote if, at the polls, he/she:  (1) presents a voter registration receipt from the DMV or other prescribed voter registration agency that his application was received by the deadline, (2) fills out a new voter registration card, (3) the card is approved by the registrar, and (4) the voter presents the required identification.

 

ELECTION DAY

 

Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Hamburg Fire Station, 213 Hamburg Road, Lyme, CT.
