Deer Bow Hunting Season Opens Friday, Sept 15

Deer hunting season opens in Connecticut September 15 with the beginning of the bow season and continues through Jan 31. The Town of Lyme and Lyme Land Trust allow licensed hunters with a granted permit to hunt on some of its forest preserves. Hunters seeking permission to hunt on Town and Land Trust property should contact the Town of Lyme Open Space Coordinator at openspace@townlyme.org. Hunting is allowed Mon-Thurs. and preserves remain open to hikers and other users during bow season.

Whenever walking in the woods during hunting season, it is always a good idea to wear bright colors (preferably orange) and to keep dogs leashed. If your dogs run free, it’s a good idea to buy them orange vests and make sure they are worn whenever the dog is out of the house.
