During DEER FIREARM HUNTING SEASON beginning Wed., Nov. 15 through Tues., Dec.19, 2017, the following Preserves in Lyme will be closed Monday through Friday except to licensed hunters with consent permits: Beebe Preserve, Chestnut Hill Preserve, Eno Preserve/Mount Archer Woods/Pickwick’s Preserve, Jewett Preserve, Hand Smith, Honey Hill Preserve, and Plimpton Preserve. These preserves, owned by the Town of Lyme or the Lyme Land Conservation Trust, will be open on Saturdays and Sundays during this period as no hunting is allowed there on weekends. Please be aware that hunting is allowed in Lyme on State and Private land every day except Sunday. Wear bright colors when walking in the woods.
The hunting program of the Town of Lyme and the Lyme Land Conservation Trust is administered through the Lyme Open Space Coordinator. Hunting helps control deer browse damage, decreases the number of wildlife related car accidents, helps decrease the spread of tick-related diseases, and provides access for a traditional use of open space in Lyme.
