The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has recently announced a proposal that would increase the car fare on the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry by $1.00, effective July 1, 2018; and increase the price of a 20-ticket coupon book from $60 to $80, effective the same date. CTDOT has also announced that residents can comment on the proposed changes by sending a letter to “Comment on Proposed Fare and Service Changes,” CTDOT, P.O. Box 317546, Newington, CT 06131; by sending an email to dot.farecomments@ct.gov; or by attending a town hall meeting, one of which will be held in Chester on February 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Click here for details.

On Monday, Feb. 27, at 1:00 p.m., at the Lymes’ Senior Center, the center will offer a free training session in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), which will be led by two local emergency medical technicians (EMTs), Colleen Atkinson and Doug LoPresti. The training session will explain how to recognize when someone is experiencing cardiac arrest and how to use this type of defibrillator. The EMTs will also demonstrate how to use hands-only CPR integrated with the use of an AED while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. The program is free and open to the public.
