The CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) will hold a public hearing on Nov. 13 concerning the preliminary recommendation by the State that portions of the Lower Connecticut River, Bluff Point, Haley Farm State Park and adjacent areas of Long Island Sound be proposed to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for designation as a National Estuarine Research Reserve. The hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Academic Building Auditorium at the University of Connecticut’s Avery Point campus, located at 1084 Shennecossett Road in Groton. The Lyme Volunteer Fair will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Lyme Public Library, where more than 30 Lyme-affiliated nonprofits, associations, boards and commissions will be on hand with opportunities for local residents to volunteer and be of service to our town.
