Lyme’s Town Hall and Public Library will reopen tomorrow – Tuesday, May 26 – for staff only as we begin to prepare and modify the buildings and work spaces to reflect recommended public health protocols. Any service to patrons will take place outside the buildings, without contact, as was the process shortly before the current closure.
Last day for timely payment of taxes levied on personal property list as of the previous October 1.
Town Hall is open today from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
On Saturday, Sep. 26, at 2:00 p.m., at the Lyme Public Library: Author Erik Hesselberg presents “Night Boat to New York: Steamboats on the Connecticut 1824-1931” – which explores the days when steamboats on the Connecticut River transported people and goods between Hartford and New York City, and helped transplant the inland America “Spa Culture” to the seashore. Departing each afternoon from Hartford, the “night boats” reached New York at daybreak, inaugurating a pattern of city commuting that continues to this day. Free and open to all. Register at 860-434-2272.
