Shotgun hunting season for turkey begins on Oct. 3, 2020, in several Lyme preserves. Hikers and other residents using these preserves during hunting season are encouraged to practice caution and wear bright colors.
Shotgun hunting season for turkey will run from Oct. 3 to Oct. 31 – with hunting permitted Monday through Thursday, from sunrise to sunset in the following preserves:
- Plimpton
- Beebe
- Chestnut Hill
- Hand Smith
- Slawson
The preserves, which are owned by the Lyme Land Conservation Trust, will remain open to everyone during firearm hunting season for turkey. Please note that no hunting is allowed on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
Permits for hunting on these preserves are granted by the Town of Lyme Open Space Coordinator each year to a limited number of licensed hunters. The hunting program for this year is fully subscribed. (For more information on hunting programs and seasons, go here.)
