Legal Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers in the Town of Lyme that the 2019 Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax bills for vehicles newly registered after October 1, 2019 and before August 1, 2020 are due and payable January 1, 2021. These taxes must be paid on or before February 1, 2021 to avoid penalty. Executive Order NO. 9R allows the “Low Interest Option” to the taxpayers of Lyme. There will be a reduction on the interest that becomes due, allowing the interest rate on current delinquent taxes at 3% per annum for the next 3 months, Jan. 1, 2021 – March 31, 2021. As of April 1, 2021, the interest rate will revert to the 1 ½ percent of said tax from the due date, for each month or fraction thereof which elapses after January 1, 2021 (18% annually). A minimum interest charge of $2.00 is made on all delinquent tax bills. FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL DOES NOT INVALIDATE THE TAX OR WAIVE THE INTEREST DUE, per statute (12-130) should the bill become delinquent. Payments may be mailed to Lyme Tax Collector, 480 Hamburg Road, Lyme, CT. 06371. Payments may also be dropped off at The Lyme Tax Office, the Town Hall is open to the public on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, (9am-4pm) If you need to make a payment on Tuesdays or Thursdays, please call the Tax Office and I can meet you at the door. The Town Hall will be closed on 12/24/2020, 12/25/2020, 12/31/2020, 01/01/2021 and 01/18/2021.
