The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) has just informed the Town that it will be conducting a prescribed burn in the Nehantic State Forest today – Sunday, May 2 – as the conditions are right. If residents see smoke or fire in the state forest today, there is no need to report it.
The meeting will take place in the Central Office Conference Room.
On Thursday, Jun. 3, at 7:00 p.m., the Friends of the Public Library will offer a presentation called “Connecticut Pirates & Privateers” with Wick Griswold that details the swashbuckling stories of Captain Kidd, Blackbeard and other corsairs who frequented the waters, inlets and islands of Connecticut. To register for the free program and receive a Zoom invitation, send an email to email@example.com. For more information, call the library at 860-434-2272.
