On Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., join the Lyme Land Trust (LLT) and members of the Lyme Garden Club and the Lyme Pollinator Pathway for “Learn and Weed,” an outdoor, educational event that will teach participants how to weed out unwanted plants while protecting important wildflowers. The event will take place at the Pollinator Meadow by the Lyme Public Library. Participants can collect seeds to take home and are encouraged to bring their own garden gloves, clippers and a bucket. On Monday, Feb. 27, at 1:00 p.m., at the Lymes’ Senior Center, the center will offer a free training session in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), which will be led by two local emergency medical technicians (EMTs), Colleen Atkinson and Doug LoPresti. The training session will explain how to recognize when someone is experiencing cardiac arrest and how to use this type of defibrillator. The EMTs will also demonstrate how to use hands-only CPR integrated with the use of an AED while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. The program is free and open to the public.
