On Friday, Oct. 15, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Lyme Land Trust will hold an “Autumn Astronomy Observing Session” led by Scott Mallory at an area location to be disclosed. Participants are invited to come anytime during the session, if they park a short way from the site and walk in. Participants who plan to set up equipment are asked to arrive before dark and stay the whole time so as not to disturb others. Reservations are required. On Tuesday mornings in October, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Lyme’s Open Space Coordinator Wendy Hill and other local leaders will continue to lead “Tuesday Treks” – weekly walks through different Town preserves. Trek leaders alternate between Sue Cope, Tony Irving, Kristina White and Wendy Hill. (To reserve a spot, contact the appropriate trek leader; see below.) In the event of inclement weather, the treks are canceled.

On Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the Lyme Public Library will kick off its “Open Studio” art program for students in Grades 6-12, which will enable them to create still life paintings or drawings. The program, which will continue to meet weekly through Dec. 21, is limited to 10 participants; all participants will be socially distanced and required to wear masks.
