On Saturday, Jan. 8, at 1:00 p.m., the Lyme Land Trust and Town of Lyme are offering a “Talk & Walk” with retired DEEP forester Emery Gluck to a rare stand of pitch pine on the ledges above Selden Creek. Gluck will explain how forest management promotes the survival of trees like pitch pine, which was once a common tree on the Connecticut landscape. Registration is required. The Lyme Volunteer Fair will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Lyme Public Library, where more than 30 Lyme-affiliated nonprofits, associations, boards and commissions will be on hand with opportunities for local residents to volunteer and be of service to our town.
