On Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom, the Lyme Public Library and Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library will present “Jazz & the Civil Rights Movement,” a virtual presentation by master flutist, jazz historian and educator Galen Abdur-Razzaq, in which he will explain how influential jazz music was in promoting and financing the American civil rights movement. The Lyme Volunteer Fair will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Lyme Public Library, where more than 30 Lyme-affiliated nonprofits, associations, boards and commissions will be on hand with opportunities for local residents to volunteer and be of service to our town.
