After-School “Nutmeg Book Club” for Grades 2-3 & 4-5
On Tuesdays in March, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Lyme Public Library’s after-school “Nutmeg Book Club” for Grades 2-3 and Grades 4-5 will meet to read, review and discuss books that have been nominated for the 2022 Nutmeg Book Award. On Tuesdays in March, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Lyme Public Library will offer its “After-School Art & Storytime” program for children in Grades K-5. The children’s librarian will read a story to the children; the children will then create an art project based on the story with local artist and educator Kristen Thornton. “Preschool Visits to the Library” Program for Ages 2-4
On Wednesdays in March, at 10:30 a.m., the Lyme Public Library is offering “Preschool Visits to the Library” time in its children’s room for children ages 2-4, along with their parents or caregivers. The children will be encouraged to become familiar with the library, enjoy story time and/or a singalong, and make new friends. Parents and caregivers can check out books to take home. Racial Equity Book Club
The Lyme Public Library’s Racial Equity Book Club will discuss “Origins of Others” by Toni Morrison, a book which considers questions such as: What is race and why does it matter? What motivates the human tendency to construct “others”? Why does the presence of “others” make people afraid? Copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk.
