During the evening of October 31 and morning of November 1, the Town experienced a severe windstorm that brought down a number of trees.  The Board of Selectpeople would like to extend its appreciation to John Evans, Lars Anderson and the members of the Department of Public Works (DPW) for keeping our town and its residents safe by closing off portions of roads and coordinating with Eversource for the clearing of the trees and wires.

The Board would also like to remind all residents to honor road closures and traffic instructions as they are implemented for our safety, and to treat our DPW employees respectfully during these emergencies, which can often present travel inconveniences.

First Selectman David Lahm said, “If a tree is entangled in electrical wires, the Town’s DPW cannot touch it.  We are required to wait for Eversource to clear it.  And we are not going to risk the lives of our staff or townspeople so that someone can get a breakfast sandwich.”
