An important message from the Registrars of Voters and the Town Clerk:

“The State of Connecticut has passed a new law allowing all registered voters to vote by Absentee Ballot for any reason.  This allows voters to receive and fill out a ballot without having to visit the polling location during Early Voting or on Election Day.  Some people use this option because they find it more convenient, while others use it because they have an illness or disability that makes it more comfortable for them to fill out the ballot in their own home.

“If you are a registered Democrat and would like to vote by Absentee Ballot for the upcoming Democratic Primary on August 11, 2026, you may apply online at Connecticut Online Absentee Ballot Request Portal or you may stop at Town Hall and fill out an application with our Town Clerk, Linda Winzer.  You may apply any time and ballots will begin being mailed on July 21st.

“Once you receive your Absentee Ballot, you can fill it out and either mail it back to the Town Hall at 480 Hamburg Road or you can stop by the Town Hall and drop it off directly to our Town Clerk or place it in our Ballot Drop Box.  The Ballot Drop Box will be open 24 hours a day starting July 21st and closing at 8 pm on Election Day, August 11th.

“Please fill out and return your ballot promptly.  All Absentee Ballots MUST BE RECEIVED BY NO LATER THAN 8 PM ON AUGUST 11, 2026.  Absentee Ballots will be collected daily and counted on Election Day.

“Don’t worry, if you like the excitement of coming to the polls during Early Voting or on Election Day, but have a situation that prevents you from being able or comfortable coming inside the polling location, you may still show up to the Town Hall and utilize our curbside voting option.

“We look forward to seeing you at the polls.

“There is no Republican Primary this year.

“If you have any questions, please call the Town Hall at 860-434-7733.”
