“Emergency 101” Class @ Hamburg Station

On Saturday, Jan. 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Hamburg Station, Lyme Ambulance will hold a free “Emergency 101” class for Lyme residents to help them prepare for an emergency. The class will explain not only when to call for emergency help, but what to do while waiting for first responders to arrive – e.g., how to perform hands-only CPR, stop bleeding, recognize a stroke, treat shock, etc.  For more information, see the flyer. “How To Make a Junk Journal” Workshop (Part 2) @ Lyme Public Library

On Saturday, Jan. 15, and Saturday, Jan. 22, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Lyme Public Library will offer a two-part workshop entitled “How To Make a Junk Journal,” during which Library Director Melissa Fournier will instruct participants in how to make a “junk journal” for the storage of mementos from an old book.  Supplies will be provided.  This two-part series is limited to 12 participants ages 17 and older.  For more details, contact the library at 860-434-2272 or visit

“Propagating Pollinator Plants from Seed” Workshop @ Lyme Public Hall

On Saturday, Jan. 22, at 3:00 p.m., at Lyme Public Hall, four area organizations will offer a workshop entitled “Propagating Pollinator Plants from Seed” with Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History Education Coordinator Jim Sirch.  Sirch will teach participants the different germination requirements for different kinds of seeds, as well as how to plant a plastic milk jug with a seed selection to stratify over the winter.  The workshop is sponsored by Friends of the Lyme Public Library, the Lyme Land Trust, Lyme Public Hall and the Lyme Pollinator Pathway.  To register for the program, residents should send an email with their full name to

RiverCOG Affordable Housing Plan Presentation @ Zoom

On Monday, Jan. 24, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom, the Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments (RiverCOG) has scheduled a second virtual presentation of its recently released Regional Housing Plan, during which it will wrap up its work on the regional piece of the plan and initiate the creation of the state-mandated affordable housing plans for area municipalities, including Lyme’s.  To register to participate in the virtual presentation and workshop, click on this link.  After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email and meeting link.  To see the flyer, click here.
