Connecticut Trails Day Walk @ NaturePlace

On Saturday, Jun. 1, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the Lyme Land Conservation Trust will celebrate CT Trails Day by opening the NaturePlace Self-Guided Trail, which highlights fascinating ecology, history and geology in the Banningwood Preserve. The interpretive trail, which will be available as a new map and brochure, is designed to engage curious hikers of all ages and interests. NaturePlace is an outdoor education space inspired by the vision of Diana and Parker Lord.  The Banningwood Preserve is located off Town Street in Lyme. Reservations for the free event would be appreciated at openspace@townlyme.org.  (This event will be canceled in the event of rain.)

Crossing: A Musical Journey @ Lyme Public Hall

On Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2, Lyme Public Hall will host a staged production of “Crossing: A Musical Journey” – based on a true story of love, loss and redemption, involving the reunion of a Scottish father and his son in America in the 1800s.

The show, which plays Saturday, June 1, at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, June 2, at 2:00 p.m., features 18 original songs as well as local actors and musicians, including Braiden Sunshine of The Voice, Mike Bailey of Maggie’s Guitar, Julia Helal, Galen Donovan, John Lamar and Mike Johnson.  

Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for students; and can be purchased online at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4240460 or by cash or check only at the door.  Lyme Public Hall is located at 249 Hamburg Road.

Restoration Ecology Workshop @ Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center

On Sunday, Jun. 2, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the Town of Lyme, the Lyme Land Conservation Trust (LLCT) and Audubon Connecticut will offer a Restoration Ecology Workshop at the Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center at 90 Halls Road in Old Lyme.  The free workshop will explain how restoring native habitat in your backyard can help area wildlife.  Pam Hine, a senior lecturer in Botany at Connecticut College, will share her knowledge and insight on restoring ecosystems.  This free event is part of a Bird Workshop Series offered by the Lyme Forest Block Conservation Project—an initiative launched by Audubon Connecticut in partnership with the Town of Lyme, the LLCT, the Eightmile River Wild & Scenic Watershed Coordinating Committee, the Nature Conservancy, and other local land trusts and municipalities.  Space is limited. Thach Preserve Walk @ Thach Preserve

On Saturday, Jun. 8, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the Town of Lyme and the Lyme Land Conservation Trust (LLCT) will offer “Spring in the Thach Preserve,” a walk and talk with Anthony Irving, a forest ecologist and LLCT board member.  Irving will discuss the natural features of this vibrant environment which centers around a beaver pond and discuss their connections to the local ecology.  The Thach Preserve is located at 131 Brush Hill Road in Lyme; the walk is about one mile. Reservations for the free event would be appreciated at openspace@townlyme.org.  (This event will be canceled in the event of rain.)
