The Lyme Land Conservation Trust (LLCT) will hold its annual meeting on Friday, Jun. 21, at 6:00 p.m., at the Lyme Public Hall at 249 Hamburg Road in Lyme. The meeting will include voting on various business items by LLCT members, a presentation of the Volunteer of the Year award, light fare and libations. For more information, contact info@lymelandtrust.org.
On Sunday, Jun. 23, at 1:00 p.m., the Lyme Land Conservation Trust (LLCT) will celebrate the opening of the LLCT’s beautiful new Riverside Preserve, a six-acre property that borders the newly restored portion of the Eightmile River by the former Ed Bill’s dam. Steve Gephard, a CT DEEP fisheries biologist, will talk about the effect the removal of Ed Bill’s dam has had on the health of the river ecosystem, including the migrating fish population that now has unrestricted passage to ancestral spawning areas. The preserve was donated to the LLCT by conservationist Barbara O. David. Riverside Preserve is located on Salem Road in Lyme, about ¼ mile from Route 156. (This event will be canceled in the event of rain.) For more information, contact stewardship@lymelandtrust.org.
