Regretably, Lyme has recently experienced two more residential burglaries, this time on Mount Archer and Selden Roads. In addition to efforts to develop a town wide notification system, the Board of Selectmen, in cooperation with the Connecticut State Police Troop F Barracks, is immediately initiating a Patrol Check Request program.

If you are going to be out of town for any extended period of time or are simply in Lyme over the weekends and want a random, peroidic check of your home, simply print out and complete the request form on the Quick Links section of the town web page. Fax or deliver it to the Town Hall and the selectmen’s office will arrange for coverage within budgetary constraints. The town has a budget line item for police over time which will be utilized for this additional service. If you do not have the computer/fax capacity to make this request, call the Town Hall, provide the necessary details and your request will be relayed to the State Police.

Please be advised that the selectmen plan to make judicious use of this option and a request does not guarantee blanket coverage. An observant public reporting suspicious activities to the Troop F barracks promptly and directly is still the best defense.
