The Town of Lyme has planned a full day of fun, free and family-friendly events to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary on July 4. The schedule of events includes:
10:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Annual Lyme Fourth of July Parade
The parade will make its way down Cove Road beginning near Camp Claire, cross Route 156 and end at the Lyme Grange. Temporary street closings will be in effect during the parade. Travel delays are possible and parking may be limited in some areas. Route 156 will be closed from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. between Sterling City Road North and South, with a detour along Sterling City Road. Parking may be found at the Lyme Congregational Church and at the side of the Fairgrounds.

Free Barbecue at the Lyme Grange
Enjoy free food and refreshments courtesy of the Lyme Recreation Commission, along with live music and games. Located at 2 Sterling City Road.

Archives Exhibit at the Lyme Public Hall
Find out about Lyme’s history at this fascinating exhibit that features items from the Carol Bacdayan Local History Archive, curated by members of the Lyme History Archive and Lyme Public Hall. Located at 249 Hamburg Road.
11:30 a.m. — 11:50 p.m.
Honoring the Origins of Independence Day
Join the Lyme Veterans Memorial Committee for a brief ceremony celebrating the founding of our nation. Outside the Grange Building at 2 Sterling City Road.
12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Lyme Congregational Sing-A-Long at First Congregational Church of Lyme
Come join a musical community celebration of America at the First Congregational Church of Lyme. Located at 1 Sterling City Road.

Planting of a Commemorative Tree on the Town Green
The Lyme Garden Club will commemorate America’s 250th by planting a tree on the Town Green and reading the Declaration of Independence aloud. Located at 480 Hamburg Road.

Revolutionary War Songs at the Lyme Public Library
Musician and historian Richard Donohue performs his program, “What a Glorious Crash They Made,” which features the history and music of the Revolutionary War in New England, at the Lyme Public Library. Located at 482 Hamburg Road.
