Following public health recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Ledge Light Health Department (LLHD), masks will be required for all employees and visitors to Town facilities, regardless of their vaccination status, effective Monday, Aug. 23.  This step is being taken as a public health precaution as COVID-19 cases are rising in and around Lyme.  Town commissions and boards, as well as outside organizations, may continue to use Town facilities for meetings providing they follow the masking requirements.

LLHD Recommends Masks in Indoor Settings

The Ledge Light Health District (LLHD) has notified the Town of Lyme that the U.S. Centers for Disease Prevention & Control (CDC) has designated the risk of COVID transmission in New London County as being “substantial.”

The LLHD notification included this statement:

“In areas with substantial transmission, CDC recommends that everyone (including fully vaccinated individuals) wear a mask in public indoor settings to help prevent spread of the Delta variant and to protect others. This is important because new data show that fully vaccinated people who are infected with the Delta variant might be infectious and might potentially spread the virus to others.”

Fully Vaccinated Individuals Do Not Need Masks in Town Facilities Effective Monday, Jul. 12

Starting Monday, Jul. 12, the Town of Lyme will no longer require employees and visitors who have been fully vaccinated to wear masks in Town Hall, the public library or other Town facilities.  Individuals who have not yet been vaccinated will still need to wear masks and observe social distancing protocols.  (Access to the vault and to land records will continue to be on a by-appointment basis.)

Effective May 3, Town Hall, Library To Resume Normal Hours; Hamburg Recycling Center Hours To Expand; Meeting Rooms To Be Available

Effective Monday, May 3, Lyme Town Hall and the Lyme Public Library will resume their normal hours of operations without the need for appointments, while continuing to observe the safety protocols of social distancing and mandatory mask wearing.  The vault at Town Hall will continue to be available by appointment.

  • Town Hall will be open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • The Public Library will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Wednesdays and Fridays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Closed Sundays and Mondays.)

Effective the same day, the Hamburg Recycling Center’s hours will be expanded, with the center staying open seven days a week on a modified schedule:

  • The recycling center will be open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and Friday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • As a reminder, the Lyme Transfer Station is available to accept recycling from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Town facilities will also become open for use by private organizations and Town boards and commissions on May 3.  Use of the facilities will be limited to 50 percent or less of the state fire occupancy levels to ensure social distancing can be maintained, and masks will be required.  Meeting hosts are responsible for ensuring all safety protocols are observed.  Reservations for the use of these facilities can be made through the Town Clerk for Town Hall meeting rooms; through the librarian for Public Library rooms; and through the fire chief for the Tiffany Room in the Hamburg station.
